Vauxhall 1.2 / 1.4 Turbo Wet Belt Replaced in Slough
When Vauxhall moved across to the Stellantis platform in 2019 the engine bays changed completely. Out went the GM-era 1.4 Turbo with its chain, in came the PSA 1.2 PureTech turbo and later 1.2 hybrid setups, all with the wet belt setup we know well from Peugeots and Citroens parked across Slough. The risk transferred straight to the new Vauxhall range and most owners do not realise.
We see Corsa F, Astra L, Mokka B, Crossland and Grandland in for wet belt jobs every week at our Berkshire workshop. The job is the same as a PureTech and the rules are the same. Replace the belt, oil pump, tensioner and pickup pipe by 75,000 miles or 6 years, sooner with any warning signs.

How a Vauxhall 1.2 turbo wet belt runs at our Slough workshop
Same procedure as any other PSA 1.2 PureTech. Front cover and sump come off, oil pickup is inspected, belt and pump are checked for shed material. If the engine is clean we fit the full kit. If it is contaminated we have an honest conversation before any more money is spent.
Full kit means new wet belt, new oil pump assembly, tensioner, idler, oil pickup pipe, sump gasket, crank seal and a complete oil change with PSA-approved 0W-30 or 5W-30. Engine timed, road tested through Slough and Berkshire, leak checked back at base. Another 75,000 reliable miles ahead of the car.
What about the older 1.4 Turbo?
The pre-2019 Vauxhall 1.4 Turbo (A14NET, B14NET, B14XFT) is a chain engine, not a wet belt. If your Astra J, Astra K or Mokka A has the GM-era 1.4 Turbo you do not need a wet belt service. WhatsApp us the reg if you are not sure and we will confirm from the VIN. We do plenty of chain tensioner work on the older 1.4 Turbo as well.
The cut-off year is 2019 for most models. Anything badged Corsa F, Astra L, Mokka B, Crossland or Grandland is on the Stellantis 1.2 PureTech wet belt. Anything before 2019 is most likely chain, unless someone has fitted a later engine, which we have seen once or twice at our Slough workshop.
