Generations and body styles
The L550 Discovery Sport has been in production since 2014, with a significant update in 2019 that brought Ingenium engines, revised suspension and, on later cars, plug-in hybrid technology.

Earlier Discovery Sport models used a mix of Ford-sourced diesel and petrol engines, while later cars moved to Jaguar Land Rover's own Ingenium diesel and petrol units. What servicing it needs
Land Rover typically recommends annual or mileage-based servicing depending on use, with oil and filter changes, brake fluid and various fluid checks carried out according to the vehicle's specific schedule. PHEV variants also need their hybrid system checked as part of a full service.
Gearbox
Many Discovery Sport models use a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and Land Rover specifies a fluid change for this gearbox on many examples rather than describing it as sealed-for-life. All-wheel-drive transfer case fluid is also part of the wider drivetrain servicing on this model.
Timing belt, wet belt or chain
Depending on the engine and model year, the Discovery Sport uses either a timing chain or a conventional timing belt.
